In Healing Cancer Peacefully, published by the Round House Press, Dr. Nancy Offenhauser takes us with unwavering honesty from her 2002 diagnosis of endometrial cancer to her 2004 cancer-free state. She leads us step by step through a wide range of natural medicines and modalities, entirely bypassing conventional allopathic medicine.  And in this book there is no room for victimhood:

"Once you have been diagnosed with cancer, your life will never be the same again—at least, hopefully not. If you remain the same it will mean you haven’t learned anything."

In 2002, Nancy Offenhauser was running a unique, thriving chiropractic office in Dutchess County, New York. Known for spending one or more hours with each patient, her practice rapidly grew, as did the stresses of life. A practitioner who uses her hands instead of the popular mechanical tools of her trade, Dr. Offenhauser was learning to listen to her patients’ bodies.

And, luckily, listening to her own.

Then, in 2004, the author was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, a variety that kills over 7000 women a year in America.  She was offered more of the same: a hysterectomy. And possibly chemo. And radiation. And drugs. But Nancy Offenhauser had seen the disastrous effects of these piled-on conventional treatments in other people’s bodies. She had seen how bodies "treated’ in this way no longer responded to her healing touch, how they stiffened, weakened and suffered.

So she said No to all of it. And said Yes to her intuition, her instincts, her medical expertise, and her common sense.

Dr. Offenhauser’s instinct to reject the entire range of allopathic modalites is increasingly shared by today’s disillusioned, frightened cancer patients, even if they cannot always find the words to explain why.

Luckily, Nancy Offenhauser has the words:

"I felt that the conventional medical paradigm was starting from an incorrect premise, which would therefore make it difficult to come to the correct conclusion.  I saw (and still see) no point in working hard to kill the cancer only to destroy the body’s energy and vitality in the process.  If, for example, my energy level were at 80% at the time of diagnosis, surgery would bring it down to 50%, even barring complications. I would then find it much harder to get back up to the original 80% than if I had not had surgery at all."

"Why not work directly from 80% and try to go higher?"

Dr. Offenhauser’s extraordinary medical memory reveals how she learned to listen to her own body by listening to her patients’ bodies, including those damaged by pharmaceuticals and other procedures. She explains the principles of healing she developed from her own experiences and those of her patients, and introduces us to a little-known cancer-diagnosing blood test.

Healing Cancer Peacefully: When Your Body’s Not a Battlefield, It Can Tell You What It Needs is written in three parts...

Part One: Viewpoints, including "Invisible Me: Why I Am Writing This Book", which begins:

"Today is the fifth anniversary of my diagnosis with endometrial cancer. I am officially supposed to be a Cancer Survivor."

"I think."

" ...I continue to live normally and work at my chiropractic practice, having been spared anemia, mouth sores, hair loss, immune system dysfunction, cachexia—wasting and malnutrition—and all sorts of horrible things."

"However, I doubt you’ll see me in statistics anywhere."

"Why? There are two simple reasons:"

"One, I have never been treated by conventional allopathic medicine for this condition. Frankly, I think that’s why I’m in such good shape."

Other compelling Part I chapters are:

  • "How I Look at Cancer" - As a case of cell starvation, and the starving are fed, not burned or poisoned.
  • "If You’ve Just Been Diagnosed with Cancer" - Including life- and sanity-saving advice on dealing with friends and family who think they know best about your medical choices.
  • "Chiropractic: Drugless Medicine" - A convincing argument for a return to the origins of a proven practice that could be one of the key alternatives to the dangerous pharma-run conventional medical industry.
  • "Sing the Magickal Body" - A tribute to the ingenius anatomy Dr. Offenhauser recognized as divine during her first medical school dissection. Did you know that even cranial bones move?

"So, if cranial bones move [which they do] and bone remodels according to use or disuse [which it does] and we can direct our circulation at will [which we can] and we can set muscle lengths and tensions either subconsciously or at will, and if we can create new red blood cells to meet additional oxygen demand at higher altitudes [which we can], why should we not be able to use consciousness to affect or reverse a disease process?,  Consciousness, after all, may well have had a role in creating it."

  • "Simple, Profound Truths" - Eleven statements that are sure to be read and acknowledged far and wide as a cry for a return to common sense and true healing!

Simple, profound truths

I have found there to be basic principles that apply to the healing process.
  • If there has been illness or trauma, there needs to be repose and comfort.
  • If there has been tearing down, there needs to be building up.
  • If there has been starvation, there needs to be food—food as nature created it, not as chemists synthesize it.
  • If people have been silenced, they need to speak their truth.
  • If they have experienced devastation, they need hope.
  • If they have been rendered powerless, they need to reclaim control of their lives.
  • If they are bewildered, they need to understand.

Doesn’t that seem simple and self-evident?

Apparently not—at least not in the way allopathic medicine handles cancer today.

Isn’t it time to bring kindness back to medicine?

Part Two: My Journey, 27 fearlessly honest and revealing chapters, including “Mapping the Road to Cancer,” tracing her illness back to such surprising influences as yeast, mold, Lyme Disease, stress, diet, emotional issues of the past, and overwork. Her bold, authoritative “Disclaimer, of a Sort,” “A New Look at Cancer,” “Invisible Survivor,” and other candid, timely viewpoints further set this book apart.

This chapter includes a two-page timeline graph of the unexpected causes of the author’s cancer.

Part Three: Help Is at Hand, including Resources and two appendices, "What I Know about Endometrial Cancer," and "What I Did (Not Necessarily in Order of Importance): A Personal Routine."

Healing Cancer Peacefully inspires a renewed appreciation for the author’s noninvasive, drugless chiropractic profession, as it was originally designed.

Dr. Nancy Offenhauser’s Healing Cancer Peacefully: When the Body’s Not a Battlefield, It Can Tell You What It Needs illustrates the undeniable fact that the body’s natural, self-healed state can best be reached through time-honored, gentle—and affordable—ways of healing.

In this ecology-driven era, public acceptance of the natural healing of the body is the logical—and long overdue—next step.

Healing Cancer Peacefully is today’s convenient truth.

Reader Testimonials

"Nancy's journey to true health is an inspiration. As a Holistic Health Counselor, I see how vital it is to make wise decisions about how we nourish our bodies, for each choice we make either adds or detracts from our well being. Every day I witness the dark-side of the pharmacutical industry and in my continual search for wellness I know this ground breaking work will become a vital resource for me and my clients."

— Caroline Phipps. HHC, AADP

"For cancer patients or anyone loath to surrender their bodies and souls to the medical establishment, Nancy Offenhauser offers a hopeful antidote to allopathic orthodoxy.  Healing Cancer Peacefully is an engaging amble through the course of her self-cure, an original renegade approach to fortifying her internal resources with the use of trusted ancient remedies, shamanic odysseys and latterday techniques, including NLP, rather than destroying her natural defenses with drugs, chemo and radiation.
In this tale of courage and faith, the small-town chiropractor who listens to her patients with her hands has shone a bright light on the Ultimate Mystery: healing."

— Debra Scott, President, Unstuck! Life and Wellness Coaching

"Having Nancy Offenhauser as my doctor has really changed the way I look at other medical professionals. For the first time in my life I realize, with Nancy's help, that I can actually do something to help MYSELF out, that I should trust MY instincts about my own body. That realization alone was almost shocking. Generally we take the physician’s word, doing whatever he/she says, taking whatever medication given. Nothing is explained, you are just one of the cattle, often guided into more disease. Not any more. Finally, I am involved in my own healing, enjoying great soothing treatments. Instead of taking medication, Nancy explains why different wild herbs and teas will slowly heal your body. It makes it so much easier and, frankly, fun!

Being sick is very personal. Would you have the guy in the paint store pick the color for your bedroom walls just because he works there?? Everybody is different, and there is a way for us all. I would not have realized my responsibility to take care of my own body without Nancy Offenhauser. She tells you what’s going on and what you can do about it. She is amazing."

— Camilla Mathlein, Interior Designer and Feng Shui Practitioner
